In a touching display of humility and connection, Nayab star Yumna Zaidi recently reconnected with a long-lost childhood friend through Instagram. The heartwarming exchange, sparked by a heartfelt message from her friend Wajiha, has captivated fans and highlighted the actor’s down-to-earth nature.
Wajiha, a former neighbor of Yumna’s from their days in Sahiwal, reached out to the actor in the comments section of an Instagram reel. “Hi! I’m not sure if you remember me but we used to be neighbours in Sahiwal,” she wrote, adding, “My brothers and I used to play with you and your siblings. I heard you’re in Calgary this weekend. We live here! If you see this and want to meet up, let me know.” Wajiha touchingly concluded, “We’re all always rooting for you and my parents always point you out to me on TV ‘tumhari purani dost’.”
To Wajiha’s delight, Yumna not only remembered her but also responded with a personalized message. “Hey Wajiha, hope you, Hasan, Zain and everybody [are] well,” the Gentleman actor wrote, recalling Wajiha’s brothers by name. “We had great times together,” she added, reminiscing about their shared childhood.
While Yumna expressed her regret at being unable to meet due to her short stay in Calgary for a fundraising event, she warmly invited Wajiha to the event. “Coming here for a very short time for a fundraiser, come [to] the show, would love to see you. Salam to Aunty and Uncle,” she concluded, adding a heart emoji.
The exchange has garnered widespread praise from fans, who lauded Yumna’s humility and willingness to connect with someone from her pre-stardom life. “This response shows Yumna is a humble being, rare to see such an inside-out beauty!” commented one fan, a sentiment echoed by many others.
On the professional front, Yumna recently starred in the drama Gentleman alongside Humayun Saeed. However, it was her performance in the film Nayab, a story about a woman pursuing her cricket dreams, that brought her international acclaim. The film received recognition at the World Film Festival in Cannes in May and the Listapad International Film Festival in Minsk, Belarus last November.
